theres blinding light everywhere we go

the rain is falling
and i keep on talking
cause it gets me in
my own place where
things just feel okay
and i keep hoping you're
out there sleeping and
while you're dreaming
i wish i could could
climb through a bubble
and poke at your brain
to tickle the spot that
saved a place for me

everything is chained

all of the clouds
and all of the birds
couldn't float high enough
together in order to
make up a world so perfect
that it rains every day

and

not all of us could fall
as far as the leaves
from last fall
to see what we're missing
under the earth this way

you're an outdated prescription
sitting on the windowsill
for months at a time

when things kind of disappear
where do they go?
does the earth start to
collapse in our sleep
and when the moon gets brighter
is it looking for loose eyes?

i need to know these things
in case i wake up next
to a frog in a forest
cause i forgot how to
live like these things don't happen
