in the night
a soul screams
forever without feeling
only they can see
everything
we think we need

where is the light?
that forms the yellow
tint in your hair
on stuffy days when you
feel light enough to
fall
off
yet lonely enough to
jump
off
the skyline where no one
knows how many times
you can fold
at once

of the holes you fill

today i saw god
kissing the streets
like it was some
sort of need
maybe he'll get
what he means

tonight the clouds will
lower over your bed room
leaving you no head room
then you'll sit up and
look around
realizing you're almost
hugging the ground

someday you'll wear
a crown made with
pieces of my
little heart and it'll
wear down
getting closer to your
skull until it stops
looking dull
then you'll give it
back to me to repolish
because i always
make things look pretty
even when we're
in the city

forever i'll remember
every day in which
you made things
possible to wish
without wondering if
you'd always be on
the other side to
send it right back
or not

tomorrow everything will
brighten but not from the sun
and we'll watch everyone
run in search of the
center of the earth
then stand there
in laughter because
we've already figured out
what it's worth

crawling is so hard
when you try to
run so far
to reach the sun
and it only moves further
away from your heart
to make you reach
until your limbs fall off
and your fears freeze off
because the earth
went numb from all the
stress and put you
by the stars to
make a giant mess

i keep looking behind me
but nothings ever
teasing me
just pleasing me
because the apple that
fell from the tree
saw me and told me
to pick it up
and now i'm looking
at a boy who's
mind is bigger than
my feet and all
that's left to know
is how much everything
including anything
will let him grow
